Knowledge and Technical Skills of Metalwork Cultivated since 1861
Aiba Corporation was founded in 1861 (Bunkyu 1) as a hardware store in Somagi, Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture. I am the fifth president, and our company has a history of over 160 years. When the company was founded at the end of the Edo period, we began selling hardware. In the Meiji period, we began handling steel materials. In the Taisho period, we became a distributor for Yasugi Works (currently Proterial, Ltd.), handling cutlery steel of Yasugi Specialty Steel. In the early Showa period, we established a cutlery plant and have been engaged in the manufacture and sale of cutlery products.
Utilizing Knowledge of Metalworking while Concentrating Technology on Special Steel
In 1994, we moved our special steel center to a new location. We scaled back our metal manufacturing and sales business and shifted our focus to special steel. We believe that our knowledge and technology are utilized in our ability to understand the issues at the manufacturing site and propose special steel materials to be used in molds. Currently, we have one of the largest stocks of forging mold materials and high-grade cutlery steel (Yasugi Specialty Steel) in Japan. By investing in the latest technology and working in cooperation with our affiliated and partner companies, we have established a system that allows us to meet a wide range of customer demands.
Attitude Unchanged since Our Founding
During the Meiji era, my great-grandfather wrote the work rules, which stated, "When dealing with everyone, including employees and customers, it is important to be kind and gentle." Our company is not only always open to new challenges, but also considers the essence of a worker to be humble in our attitude toward business partners, partner companies and the local community. We will continue striving to contribute to the development of society.
